Overcurrent protection
To ensure reliable and safe operation it is important to select and install a suitably rated inline fuse or circuit breaker as close as practical to the battery/batteries, inline with the DC power cabling between the Blue Smart IP22 Charger and battery/batteries.
The primary purpose of an inline fuse or circuit breaker located close to the battery/batteries is to protect the cabling and system in the event of a overcurrent fault, such as a short circuit in the wiring.
In the event of a short circuit in the wiring between the battery/batteries and Blue Smart IP22 Charger, the battery/batteries have the capability to provide extremely high current flow through the cabling, which can result in severe overheating or potentially a fire unless the circuit is broken immediately by a suitable fuse or circuit breaker.
