GX Boat Page gets DAME Design award nomination

E-drive watercraft GUI recognised for excellence

For 35 years the DAME Design Awards have been recognising excellence in product design at the Marine Equipment Trade Show – Metstrade – the world’s leading exhibition for the Marine Industry.

The prestigious DAME Design award has become known as the Oscar of the Marine Industry.

Having invested a great deal of time and energy researching, and perfecting our dedicated GX Boat Page for users of E-drive water craft, naturally we at Victron Energy are delighted to have been nominated in the Navigation & Communication category of this award!

One of the main selection criteria this year is sustainability – which lies at the heart of all we do.

As part of the application we submitted an environmental statement and were pleased to be able to point to our open source Venus OS which allows brand integration – and therefore compatibility with existing hardware.

The GX Boat Page – and our Venus OS more generally – is extensively compatible with third-party devices. On board electric and hybrid boats we connect seamlessly to propulsion systems, batteries, navigation systems, Android Tablets – for instant GUI.

Taken together the effect of these features is to extend the life of existing on board equipment – no need to remove serviceable equipment – therefore lowering the barrier to sustainable boating.

Victron’s Philipp Trenz, who has steered the project says: “The GX Boat Page being nominated for the prestigious DAME Design Award is a proud moment for Victron Energy. It recognizes our commitment to innovation, usability, and smart system integration in the marine sector. Combined with our growing range of E-drive integrations, this achievement marks a significant step forward in sustainable electric and hybrid boating — making efficient, connected, and zero-emission propulsion more accessible than ever.”

DAME Design Award winners will be announced on November 18th at the Breakfast Briefing on the opening day of Metstrade 2025.

Let’s take a video tour of the GX Boat Page.
