We are seeking an experienced Environmental Regulations Expert responsible for ensuring that company products, processes, and operations comply with applicable environmental regulations and directives. The role involves monitoring regulatory developments, supporting compliance assessments, and working with engineering and product teams to ensure regulatory conformity.
The expert will support environmental compliance across product development, manufacturing, and market access.
Key Responsibilities
Product Environmental Compliance
- Ensure product compliance with environmental directives and regulations.
- Establish and manage a product environmental compliance framework to ensure regulatory conformity of materials, components, and products across R&D, suppliers, and the supply chain.
- Support environmental assessments during product design and development.
- Review product documentation and technical files for regulatory compliance.
Regulatory Frameworks
Ensure compliance with regulations such as:
- RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances)
- REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals)
- WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive)
- EU Battery Regulation
- Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive
- California Prop 65
- TSCA
- CMRT, EMRT
- PFAS
- Other regional environmental regulations as applicable.
Documentation & Compliance Evidence
- Prepare environmental compliance documentation.
- Review supplier declarations and material compliance data.
- Support the preparation of technical files and declarations of conformity.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Supply Chain and EMS.
- Provide guidance during product design.
- Support supplier compliance assessments.
Regulatory Monitoring
- Monitor global environmental regulations applicable to products and operations.
- Interpret regulatory requirements and communicate impacts to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain an updated database of applicable environmental regulations.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
- Electronics and Electrical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Or related field
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in environmental regulatory compliance.
- Experience with environmental regulations for electronics, electrical products, batteries, or industrial products is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of global environmental product regulations.
- Ability to interpret regulatory texts and translate them into technical requirements.
- Experience reviewing material declarations and compliance reports.
- Knowledge of supplier compliance management.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Knowledge
- Experience with IMDS, BOMcheck, or material compliance tools
- Knowledge of Life Cycle environmental regulations affecting products
- Experience with regulatory compliance for EU markets
Add-on Expertise (Would be an Advantage)
- Knowledge of product safety regulations (e.g., LVD)
• Understanding of EMC requirements (e.g., RED, EMC Directive)
