VEConfigure Assistants

What are Assistants?

Think of Assistants as apps, as on a smart phone. Assistants are little applications that run inside a VE.Bus Multi, Inverter or Quattro. They reduce the overall cost of a system: in 99% of all installations it will not be necessary to add an additional PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) to get for example load shedding, optimizing use of solar energy or automatically starting and stopping a genset.

How to add an Assistant from start to finish

Note: below screenshots are just an example. The same procedure works for other Assistants as well. The used example refers to an Assistant which has later been renamed to PV Inverter support, and is also rarely used on new installations. The Self-consumption Hub-2 Assistant is used instead. It is not necessary, nor possible, to combine it with the PV Inverter support Assistant.

1. Special states

A system running the Hub-1 or Hub-2 Assistant, has the following special states:

1.1 Grid assist

Normal mode was inverting, but now the system is temporarily connected to the grid to power high loads, which in total exceed the maximum inverter power. As soon as those loads are below threshold for 60 seconds, the system will switch back to invert mode again.

Ignore AC input using the Generator Assistant

Introduction

Ignoring AC input will force a Multi or Quattro into inverter-mode on certain conditions, even though there is mains or generator power available. For example to force the system to run 100% on battery and solar power.

Notes

	* This page shows VE.Bus System Configurator. Note that it is also possible to use VE,Bus Quick Configure.
	* The channels configuration, which is what makes this a bit more complicated than usual, is only necessary on 2xx firmware. On new firmware (4xx), this is all done automatically behind the scenes.
