{"id":729,"date":"2014-03-28T17:25:51","date_gmt":"2014-03-28T15:25:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/?p=729"},"modified":"2026-02-16T14:43:24","modified_gmt":"2026-02-16T12:43:24","slug":"vrm-portal-video-faster-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/2014\/03\/28\/vrm-portal-video-faster-and-more\/","title":{"rendered":"VRM Portal: video, faster and more&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good afternoon,<\/p>\n<p>Since the <a title=\"VRM Portal Enhancements \" href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/2014\/02\/28\/vrm-portal-enhancements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">last update on February 28th<\/a>,\u00a0there have been many improvements to the VRM Portal. <span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\"><!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Improved performance.<\/strong>\u00a0The database has been moved to a better hosting provider so the VRM Portal is now much faster, and more stable throughout the day. This change did have an unfortunate side effect, causing the VRM Portal to be down for 8 hours last night. The good thing is that no data was lost. Such down time should obviously never happen, and it is taken very seriously. The 24\/7 monitoring and response team that was already in place should have noticed the problem, but they didn&#8217;t. Measures and fail-safes are being taken to prevent this in future. My apologies for any inconvenience caused.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">Lis<\/strong><strong>t view.<\/strong><strong style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">\u00a0<\/strong>There are more and more users\u00a0that manage tens or even hundreds of sites. Two new features have been added to make that easier. The first one is to see a list of all sites, and their alarm status, instead of the tile view. Toggle between the two views with the slider on the right:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/listview2.png\" target=\"_blank\"><div class=\"full-size-image container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-744 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/listview2.png\" alt=\"listview2\" width=\"1031\" height=\"761\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2014\/03\/listview2.png 1031w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2014\/03\/listview2-1024x755.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2014\/03\/listview2-300x221.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1031px) 100vw, 1031px\" \/><\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">This list view will be further improved in the near future, by adding some columns with for example battery state of charge and voltage. The second improvement is <strong>filtering with tags. <\/strong>In this example I have arranged my sites in three groups, depot North, South and East. Use the slider on the right, called Custom date, to select the type of date picker to use. You can now do this and receive an email alarm if the agreed boundaries are broken. Or you may simply want to set an area with a destination, to send an email to friends and family to let them know when you have arrived. Handy when traveling alone. A blue geofence shows the area as active and a grey geofence shows it as inactive.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Geofence_On.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><div class=\"full-size-image container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-814\" src=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Geofence_On.jpg\" alt=\"Geofence active\" width=\"865\" height=\"543\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2014\/03\/Geofence_On.jpg 865w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2014\/03\/Geofence_On-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 865px) 100vw, 865px\" \/><\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The above shows an active Geofence using an irregular shape. Geofence will generate an alarm + email when:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>moved from inside the geofence to outside the geofence<\/li>\n<li>geofence active while outside geofence<\/li>\n<li>data coming in without GPS position. e.g. someone has unplugged the GPS, or no reception, or mobile data comms to the VRM are down.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also it will cancel the alarm (and send a short email) when there is data coming in that indicates that unit is inside the geofence, whilst an alarm was active.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>VRM Bug fixes and small improvements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>fixed a problem which made the VRM Portal look bad on a Samsung Galaxy 3 and 4.<\/li>\n<li>fixed a problem with the weather item.<\/li>\n<li>the circle graphs on the Consumption tab now show the summary for Grid, Genset and Battery as well.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Future improvements.<\/strong> Many of the future improvements listed in the previous post are still in the works:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>drastic improvement of data update rate when looking at an installation in a browser or mobile App. It will become almost real time!<\/li>\n<li>adding support to upload data saved by a CCGX to an SD card or USB stick, instead of uploading through a CCGX internet connection<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">improved &#8216;Help&#8217; for the VRM site.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That is all for now, wish you a good morning, afternoon, evening or night!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Matthijs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good afternoon, Since the last update on February 28th,\u00a0there have been many improvements to the VRM Portal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":843,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[124],"tags":[30,20,23,22,10],"class_list":["post-729","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-firmware-software","tag-color-control-gx","tag-geofence","tag-portal","tag-vrm","tag-vrm-portal"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
