{"id":5479,"date":"2016-01-28T02:54:47","date_gmt":"2016-01-28T00:54:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/?p=5479"},"modified":"2016-06-27T14:29:03","modified_gmt":"2016-06-27T12:29:03","slug":"victronconnect-good-news-for-installers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/2016\/01\/28\/victronconnect-good-news-for-installers\/","title":{"rendered":"VictronConnect: Good news for installers!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The new version of VictronConnect is now available, for both iOS and Android.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately a year ago we made our first Bluetooth baby steps: with the help of a\u00a0VE.Direct Bluetooth LE dongle which is now called the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/accessories\/ve-direct-bluetooth-smart-dongle\" target=\"_blank\">VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle<\/a>, basic information could be seen, on a phone, using Bluetooth, from our <a href=\"\/solar-charge-controllers\" target=\"_blank\">MPPT Solar chargers<\/a> as well as the <a href=\"\/battery-monitors\/bmv-700\" target=\"_blank\">BMV-700 Battery Monitor series<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And\u00a0I am happy to report that it can do much more:\u00a0now\u00a0you&#8217;ll be able to configure the Solar Chargers and BMVs straight from your phone. Doing is believing: configuring those products has never been so easy &#8211; fun actually!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>No longer balance a laptop at your knee while having it connected to a wall mounted MPPT with a USB cable that is just a little bit too short. I&#8217;ve been there and done that. Including almost dropping a laptop or having it running out of power&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Being an installer, just plug-in the dongle which will be part of your standard kit. Then take out your phone and configure the product. You&#8217;ll be done in no time.<\/p>\n<p>Also, instead of only available for iOS, the Bluetooth function now also works for Android.<\/p>\n<p>The new App can also read all historical values, from both the BMV and the Solar Chargers. The App will then automatically update the dongle firmware when using it the first time. Be warned that this dongle firmware update can be\u00a0a bit of a hassle: all steps need to be followed patiently and accurately.
