{"id":32774,"date":"2026-02-20T10:48:58","date_gmt":"2026-02-20T08:48:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/?p=32774"},"modified":"2026-03-05T17:08:43","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T15:08:43","slug":"poultry-farms-1-3mwh-storage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/2026\/02\/20\/poultry-farms-1-3mwh-storage\/","title":{"rendered":"Poultry farm&#8217;s 1.3MWh storage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After months of work: \u00a0evaluating the farm&#8217;s grid power consumption, followed by design then build of the containerised battery based power system &#8211; the time finally arrived to demonstrate the resilience of the <em>Puiul Dobrogean<\/em> poultry farm&#8217;s 180kVA private power plant &#8230;by disconnecting the electricity grid whilst the power consumption was running at 141kW! Nothing happened. In a good way. The load was transferred to the battery-based energy installation without so much as a flicker!<\/p>\n<p>The Romanian poultry farm consumes 1.5MWh of energy per day in the height of summer and had been relying on two back up generators to overcome grid failures; but when one of the generators failed to start &#8211; endangering livestock &#8211; it was clear that there was a vulnerability which could not be tolerated.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/02\/Screenshot-2026-02-16-at-16.45.34_315106361.png\" target=\"_blank\"><div class=\"full-size-image container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-32781\" src=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/02\/Screenshot-2026-02-16-at-16.45.34_315106361.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/02\/Screenshot-2026-02-16-at-16.45.34_315106361.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/02\/Screenshot-2026-02-16-at-16.45.34_315106361-750x501.png 750w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/02\/Screenshot-2026-02-16-at-16.45.34_315106361-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ionel Dobre &#8211; the owner of Puiul Dobrogean farm &#8211; started his business in 2012 and has expanded it steadily. For him this realisation of energy insecurity brought with it an opportunity &#8211; to make a financial investment to drastically reduce energy costs at the same time as guaranteeing energy security. Based on the results Stoneage Energy had experienced with their previous large installations, they decided to increase the battery charging capacity by adding 12 MPPT solar chargers to the 12 Quattro Inverter\/Chargers &#8211; to provide a additional 1200 amps of charging capacity.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/02\/Puiul-Dobrogean-1.3MWh-1_315255877.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><div class=\"full-size-image container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-32799\" src=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/02\/Puiul-Dobrogean-1.3MWh-1_315255877.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"432\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/02\/Puiul-Dobrogean-1.3MWh-1_315255877.jpg 432w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/02\/Puiul-Dobrogean-1.3MWh-1_315255877-169x300.jpg 169w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Storage: Over 1.3 MWh in 48V LiFePO4 batteries (Low Voltage).
