{"id":32175,"date":"2025-11-07T10:47:49","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T08:47:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/?p=32175"},"modified":"2026-03-05T17:20:26","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T15:20:26","slug":"fuel-station-opens-e-bike-pit-stop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/2025\/11\/07\/fuel-station-opens-e-bike-pit-stop\/","title":{"rendered":"Fuel Station opens E-Bike pit stop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s an unexpected new service on a fuel station forecourt in northern Poland: E-bikers can recharge their batteries &#8211; free.<\/p>\n<p>On the MOYA forecourt in Byt\u00f3w, installer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecoac.com.pl\" target=\"_blank\">EcoAC<\/a> &#8211; working in partnership with Victron Energy distributor <a href=\"https:\/\/globtechnic.pl\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Globtechnic Power Systems<\/a> &#8211; has installed a small canopy of solar panels under which E-bike owners can plug in for a free top-up while they wait.<\/p>\n<p>The story began with a suggestion by local authorities in northern Poland that this would be a great way to support local tourism and green mobility. The facility features motion-activated LED lighting: USB chargers for personal devices; and a 230VAC outlet: technically speaking even an EV could use the facility &#8211; though it would take a while!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Solar energy from 2 x PV panels of 490Wp \u00a0is harvested by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/solar-charge-controllers\/smartsolar-100-30-100-50\" target=\"_blank\">SmartSolar MPPT 100\/50<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Power is stored in 2 x 12V 220Ah <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/batteries\/gel-and-agm-batteries\" target=\"_blank\">AGM Deep Cycle Batteries<\/a><\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/inverters-chargers\/multiplus-ii\" target=\"_blank\">MultiPlus-II 24\/3000\/70<\/a> Inverter Charger provides AC power and can also charges the battery when connected the electricity grid.<\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/battery-monitors\/bmv-712-smart\" target=\"_blank\">BMV-712 Smart<\/a> monitors the battery State of Charge, Voltage, Input Output, as well as storing their operational history.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On a bright summer\u2019s day, the solar panels provide more than enough energy for casual use. Even on a cloudy day, the batteries alone can fully charge around five E-bikes, depending on the size of each bike\u2019s battery.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/11\/Screenshot-2025-11-03-at-15.06.07_306206798.png\" target=\"_blank\"><div class=\"full-size-image container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-32280\" src=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/11\/Screenshot-2025-11-03-at-15.06.07_306206798.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1336\" height=\"1036\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/11\/Screenshot-2025-11-03-at-15.06.07_306206798.png 1336w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/11\/Screenshot-2025-11-03-at-15.06.07_306206798-750x582.png 750w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/11\/Screenshot-2025-11-03-at-15.06.07_306206798-1024x794.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/11\/Screenshot-2025-11-03-at-15.06.07_306206798-300x233.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1336px) 100vw, 1336px\" \/><\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The unit is designed to operate in hybrid mode when it\u2019s grid-connected, ensuring service continuity 24 hours per day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>The idea is to use solar energy whenever possible, but never to leave a cyclist waiting;<\/em>\u201d says Globtechnic&#8217;s Chief Operating Officer <em>Mateusz Wrzeszcz<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The unit&#8217;s mobility makes it ideal for installation at temporary visitor attractions &#8211; and the advantage for hotels or restaurants who wish to offer guests a premium service is clear.<\/p>\n<p>EcoAC plans to refine the design to offer more charging outlets &#8211; whilst keeping the core configuration. The intention is to offer it as a commercial product which anyone can order \u2014 a ready-made amenity for modern hospitality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The unit is small enough to fit almost anywhere<\/em>,\u201d says Mateusz, \u201c<em>fuel stations, car parks, workplaces, or recreation areas \u2014 wherever people gather, it can offer power from the sun<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The MOYA forecourt offers the facility as a gesture towards customers. \u00a0The site already includes a restaurant, so e-bikers can sit and relax whilst they wait for the energy which will power their onward journey.<\/p>\n<p>EcoAC are proud that their technical expertise rose to the challenge of designing and building this new facility. They hope that the inclusivity of e-bike riders at traditional fuel forecourts will establish a new logic for public installations which meet the needs of those who choose travel sustainably.
