Battery power is replaced as far as possible from solar energy \u2013 and the generator is used to make up any shortfall. Generator efficiency is maximised because it runs only when needed, and at its maximum rating.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to heavy weight mechanical devices, such as electric cranes, lifting gear, air compressors, the dive training barge has a decompression chamber together with associated breathing support devices to which a stable electricity supply is critical. The panels will work everyday to recharge the batteries making a significant contribution between training programmes. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/inverters-chargers\/quattro\" target=\"_blank\">Quattro<\/a> Inverter\/Charger&#8217;s bi-directional capability allows the 48V DC battery to be charged from an AC power source &#8211; ensuring \u00a0that the battery bank is periodically fully charged and balanced. In fact the Quattro has <em>two<\/em> AC power inlets and will automatically switch to the live power source &#8211; no manual intervention is needed.<\/p>\n<p>The Quattro also has two AC power outlets &#8211; one of which shuts down if there is no incoming AC power source detected. Users often connect high load, non-essential equipment &#8211; such as Air Conditioning units &#8211; to this port to ensure that the battery never becomes depleted by providing energy for non operation-critical loads. It&#8217;s a simple but game-changing feature.<\/p>\n<p>The system was installed by independent energy specialist, Victron distributor and system installer <a href=\"https:\/\/energyfreedom.ie\" target=\"_blank\">EnergyFreedom Systems.<\/a> The Dive Training Barge installation consists of the following primary devices:<\/p>\n<p>3 x <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/inverters-chargers\/quattro\" target=\"_blank\">Quattro<\/a> 8kVA in 3 phase setup.<br \/>\n5 x Cegasa E\/Bick Ultra 175 Lithium Ion batteries with a total capacity of 67kWh<br \/>\n5 x 435 W Jinko PV panels<br \/>\n1 x <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/solar-charge-controllers\/smartsolar-250-85-250-100\" target=\"_blank\">SmartSolar MPPT<\/a> 250\/60 solar charge controller<br \/>\nThere&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/meters-and-sensors\/smart-battery-shunt\" target=\"_blank\">SmartShunt<\/a> 1000A to monitor battery Ah and generator starter batery<br \/>\n1 x 25kVA 3phase generator running on Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/01\/IMG_8805-copy_281307667.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><div class=\"full-size-image container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-30420\" src=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/01\/IMG_8805-copy_281307667.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2032\" height=\"1524\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/01\/IMG_8805-copy_281307667.jpg 2032w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/01\/IMG_8805-copy_281307667-1500x1125.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/01\/IMG_8805-copy_281307667-750x563.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/01\/IMG_8805-copy_281307667-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/01\/IMG_8805-copy_281307667-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/01\/IMG_8805-copy_281307667-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2032px) 100vw, 2032px\" \/><\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The system is controlled by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/communication-centres\/cerbo-gx\" target=\"_blank\">Cerbo GX<\/a>\u00a0 communication device which provides data communication between installed devices and also a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/display-and-panels\/gx-touch-50\" target=\"_blank\">GX Touch 70<\/a> which provides an easy to use local interface to monitor or programme the system.
