The shaft was out of alignment causing excessive noise and vibration, and the discomfort was exacerbated by engine fumes.<\/p>\n<h4>Electric Propulsion<\/h4>\n<p>The new electric propulsion unit is a <a href=\"https:\/\/kraeutler.at\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Krautler<\/a> WAd 15kW 48V \u00a0370A which weighs just 76kg and is capable of propelling a craft of up to six tons displacement.<\/p>\n<p>Zsolt&#8217;s launch displaces just one ton &#8211; allowing it to be easily driven to her 8 knots maximum hull speed. At a more sedate cruising speed of 4.7 knots the vessel has a range of 65 nautical miles. The electric propulsion system was installed by Sturm und Drang.<\/p>\n<h4>Power Train<\/h4>\n<p>Energy for propulsion is stored in 8 x LiFePO4 Smart 12,8\/200Ah batteries. Victron batteries are available in a number of formats and dimensions; the batteries chosen for this installation \u00a0&#8211; configured into a large bank, close to the new motor &#8211; fit into the original engine compartment like a glove!<a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/03\/20221011_092008_255900258-scaled.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-28186\" src=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/03\/20221011_092008_255900258-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/03\/20221011_092008_255900258-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/03\/20221011_092008_255900258-1500x844.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/03\/20221011_092008_255900258-750x422.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/03\/20221011_092008_255900258-2048x1152.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/03\/20221011_092008_255900258-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/03\/20221011_092008_255900258-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/inverters-chargers\/multiplus-ii\" target=\"_blank\">MultiPlus-II 48\/3000<\/a> Inverter\/Charger has been installed to allow the use of domestic appliances on board and also provides battery charging from AC shore power. Berthed at her usual marina there is a 16A power supply &#8211; whilst elsewhere on the lake, shore power is limited to 6A. Those varying limitations present no problems for the MultiPlus II &#8211; the settings of which can easily be changed to limit the current drawn from the shore supply, avoiding annoying fuse-tripping.<\/p>\n<p>More than that, if an on-board device is turned on which draws more than 6A whilst connected to shore power, the MultiPlus II will automatically provide the power shortfall straight from the battery bank, allowing the owner to enjoy using whatever appliances he has on board.<\/p>\n<p>When the power hungry device is turned off, battery charging resumes using all available power up to 6A &#8230;or 16A &#8230;or indeed up to 35A &#8211; which is the maximum battery-charging current for the chosen model.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/IMG_9787_255900925-scaled.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-28196\" src=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/IMG_9787_255900925-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/IMG_9787_255900925-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/IMG_9787_255900925-1500x1125.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/IMG_9787_255900925-750x563.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/IMG_9787_255900925-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/IMG_9787_255900925-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/IMG_9787_255900925-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Battery charging is controlled using a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/battery-management-systems\/lynx-smart-bms\" target=\"_blank\">Lynx Smart BMS<\/a> &#8211; a battery management system specifically for Victron lithium batteries. The BMS is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/dc-distribution-systems\/lynx-distributor\" target=\"_blank\">Lynx Distributor<\/a> system of components based around fused busbars offering modular extension &#8230;making for really tidy installations.<\/p>\n<p>Also on board there is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/communication-centres\/cerbo-gx\" target=\"_blank\">Cerbo GX<\/a> communication centre which provides data communication between all connected devices.
