Situated in Arbeca, 40,000 breeding birds, and 4,000 roosters are free to roam the floor of a temperature controlled rearing shed, powered by solar energy.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #333333\"> The chickens are raised in a temperature-controlled atmosphere of between 23\u00b0C and 24\u00b0C in winter, rising to a maximum of 26\u00b0C in summer.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The new farm &#8211; known as Granja Finet &#8211; complements two others owned by Josep Carrera located at Els Alam\u00fan and Vila-sana. This latest investment increases his stock holding to over 130,000 birds &#8211; but this is his first venture into solar-powered off-grid farming.<\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-24305\" src=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2022\/03\/20211215_120330_191292605-1024x314.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"314\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2022\/03\/20211215_120330_191292605-1024x314.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2022\/03\/20211215_120330_191292605-1500x460.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2022\/03\/20211215_120330_191292605-750x230.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2022\/03\/20211215_120330_191292605-2048x628.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2022\/03\/20211215_120330_191292605-1536x471.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2022\/03\/20211215_120330_191292605-300x92.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div>\n<p>System Designer <em>Francisco Blasco<\/em> and his team at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iser-es.translate.goog\/?_x_tr_sl=es&amp;_x_tr_tl=en&amp;_x_tr_hl=en&amp;_x_tr_pto=sc\" target=\"_blank\">Iser Smart Energy<\/a>\u00a0 &#8211; who worked in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/betsolar-es.translate.goog\/?_x_tr_sl=es&amp;_x_tr_tl=en&amp;_x_tr_hl=en&amp;_x_tr_pto=sc\" target=\"_blank\">Bet Solar<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">faced considerable challenges in calculating the energy needs of the plant &#8211; not least because there are so few examples of this kind of installation on this scale. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">Se\u00f1or Blasco says: <em>We were not very clear about the storage needs to be able to have energy at night, and also the differences in consumption throughout the year.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/span><em>Thus, data from other older farms were taken, and then oversized in a prudent manner. Being one of the largest farms of this type in Spain &#8211; and in this part of Europe &#8211; it was prudent to install an auxiliary system made up of several diesel generators to avoid problems. Se\u00f1or Blasco praises his\u00a0<span style=\"color: #333333\"><em>dynamic<\/em> team&#8217;s experience in both off-grid and grid-tied installations.
