{"id":23826,"date":"2021-12-17T10:22:05","date_gmt":"2021-12-17T08:22:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/?p=23826"},"modified":"2025-06-11T11:53:32","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T09:53:32","slug":"electric-vehicle-charging-that-comes-to-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/2021\/12\/17\/electric-vehicle-charging-that-comes-to-you\/","title":{"rendered":"Electric Vehicle charging that comes to you."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When entrepreneur\u00a0<em>Leonid Neganov<\/em> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">set out to build an EV charging infrastructure in the Moscow region, back in 2016, he found that &#8211; owing to the very limited number of Electric Vehicles, and the high price of real estate rental &#8211; having a static EV charging business wasn&#8217;t viable. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based on that experience he\u00a0and <em>Dmitry Kukushkin <\/em>started the company Volt2Go\u00a0having come up with the idea of creating an autonomous mobile charging station which offers EV charging where and when it&#8217;s needed. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme &#8211; which launches early next year &#8211; offers EV drivers the ability to log on to an App to book a charging time-slot at a convenient location around Moscow. And speaking of bigger loads the mobile unit &#8211; known as Power Boost &#8211; is equally capable of supplying power to temporary locations to run power tools and plant on Construction sites, for example.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Having created an autonomous EV charger, we would not have been able to provide it with a sufficiently high utilization factor;\u00a0<\/em>says Leonid , the founder and ideologist of Volt2Go<em>. We call our mobile unit the Power Boost as it is a universal solution for both optimizing energy supply, and charging electric vehicles.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As a former Minister of Energy for the Moscow region, and holding a degree in Engineering and Physics, Leonid has a thorough understanding of the problem he is trying to solve. The energy grid in the Moscow region has limited capacity &#8211; it can meet all usual domestic and industrial needs, with occasional voltage drops common to many power grid providers &#8211; but upgrading the system to power big loads at any location is very expensive.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of the reasons why EV fast charging stations are unviable &#8230;and it&#8217;s a headache, too, for industries\u00a0such as construction where projects require temporary access to a lot of energy. Oleg says:\u00a0<\/span><em>We chose Victron products for quality and reliability, as well as due to the fact that their products allow us to create quite complex technical solutions simply by assembling the necessary devices, knowing that they will interact with each other perfectly.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Power Boost uses: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 x\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/inverters-chargers\/quattro\" target=\"_blank\">Quattro 48\/10000<\/a> inverter\/chargers <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and has a bank of 4 x 25.6V\/200 Ah <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/batteries\/lithium-battery-12-8v\" target=\"_blank\">Lithium Smart batteries<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>The system is controlled by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/panel-systems-remote-monitoring\/cerbo-gx\" target=\"_blank\">Cerbo GX<\/a> controller<\/li>\n<li>and has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/panel-systems-remote-monitoring\/gx-touch-50\" target=\"_blank\">GX Touch 50<\/a> display.<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/battery-management-systems\/smallbms\" target=\"_blank\">smallBMS<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/battery-monitors\/smart-battery-shunt\" target=\"_blank\">SmartShunt<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/communication-centres\/gx-lte-4g\" target=\"_blank\">GX LTE 4G<\/a> modem with a GPS has been installed which allows for remote monitoring and tracking of the trailer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2021-12-14-at-11.33.07_183327534.png\" target=\"_blank\"><div class=\"full-size-image container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23835\" src=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2021-12-14-at-11.33.07_183327534.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"704\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2021-12-14-at-11.33.07_183327534.png 560w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2021-12-14-at-11.33.07_183327534-239x300.png 239w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The unit is compact, light and can fit into a small van (VW Caddy or similar), or it can be towed as a trailer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Power connections are accessible externally with the GX Touch 50 screen viewable in a secure box which is accessible to authorised personnel &#8211; but can be monitored by anyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2021-12-14-at-11.33.19_183327530.png\" target=\"_blank\"><div class=\"full-size-image container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23834\" src=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2021-12-14-at-11.33.19_183327530.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"694\" height=\"556\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2021-12-14-at-11.33.19_183327530.png 694w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2021-12-14-at-11.33.19_183327530-300x240.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 694px) 100vw, 694px\" \/><\/div><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The unit can be run off-grid and is able to provide an o<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">utput of 36 kW; 380 VAC 3 phase, and has a c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">apacity of 20 kWh.
