{"id":20911,"date":"2020-10-21T08:11:18","date_gmt":"2020-10-21T06:11:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/?p=20911"},"modified":"2021-01-11T14:53:19","modified_gmt":"2021-01-11T12:53:19","slug":"costa-rica-the-first-bus-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/2020\/10\/21\/costa-rica-the-first-bus-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Costa Rica &#8211; the first bus home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Amidst the universal problem of affordable housing, young people particularly are turning their backs on traditional housing solutions in favour of something that better expresses their lifestyle choices.<\/p>\n<p>Into that growing market steps a stylish housing idea\u00a0by <a href=\"https:\/\/translate.google.com\/translate?hl=en&amp;sl=es&amp;u=https:\/\/www.micromacrocostarica.com\/&amp;prev=search&amp;pto=aue\" target=\"_blank\">Micromacrocostarica<\/a> who have re-purposed a bus into a very well designed micro-home.<\/p>\n<p>Behind the idea is musician, filmmaker and creative director Alex Catona who teamed up with Architect Francesco Bracci &#8211; both of whom have let their visual flair take centre stage. Not only is the bus stylish, and cleverly designed &#8211; but the level of craftsmanship is enviable.<\/p>\n<p>In Costa Rica, by law, Public Buses have to be taken out of service after 20 years &#8211; so there are plenty of buses available for conversion. The accommodation also benefits froim a 9000BTU Air Conditioning unit.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\">An unusual feature is the hydraulic door. As the only entrance to the property is provides security. Project director <em>Luis Fonseca\u00a0<\/em>says that:<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><em>&#8220;the greatest challenge for this installation was &#8216;space&#8217;. You have to find the right place for the equipment and for the batteries. We managed to install them in the luggage compartment.
