{"id":20898,"date":"2020-08-11T10:43:08","date_gmt":"2020-08-11T08:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/?p=20898"},"modified":"2025-06-11T14:01:53","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T12:01:53","slug":"video-shows-ess-installation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/2020\/08\/11\/video-shows-ess-installation\/","title":{"rendered":"Video shows ESS installation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s a great new video by Jono on our YouTube channel which offers an in-depth look at the installation of an Energy Storage System (ESS) in a house currently under construction in Dorset, UK.<\/p>\n<p>ESS systems are designed to maximise the consumption of home produced power &#8211; supplying loads in real-time, using surplus energy to recharge the batteries, and only reluctantly buying or selling power to the grid.<\/p>\n<p>Reluctant builders Sue Wardell and her partner Mark Oppe bought an old property for renovation &#8211; but decided on closer inspection that the fabric of the building was too poor for re-use. They were able to do a lot of pre-installation work at their own premises, in Devon. The incorporation of Pylontech batteries into this Victron-controlled system is just one example of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/live\/battery_compatibility:pylontech_phantom\" target=\"_blank\">seamless communication<\/a> made possible by that work.<\/p>\n<h4>Two AC domestic circuits<\/h4>\n<p>Power is supplied to two separate consumer units, one of which is connected to critical loads such as lighting and refrigeration.
