She and her extended family occupy three houses at the same address. Their grid power ran a\u00a0borehole pump, a pool pump, further irrigation pumps plus, of course, the domestic power required for three separate living spaces.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/04\/IMG_8640_131118172-scaled.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-19978\" src=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/04\/IMG_8640_131118172-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nothing daunted, Solar Algarve presented her with a grid-tied Energy Storage System (ESS) design which would not only\u00a0solve her power stability issues, but also reduce her bills to near zero whilst providing energy for a heat pump <strong>and<\/strong> take into account the future requirement for an EV charging point.\u00a0 The heat pump is a unit from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.red-limited.com\" target=\"_blank\">RED<\/a>, and provides domestic hot water as well as underfloor heating &#8230;surplus energy can then be used to heat the swimming pool.<\/p>\n<h4>Optimised ESS \u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Victron Energy \/ Fronius \/ BYD<\/h4>\n<p>The system they installed combines Victron Energy, Fronius and BYD power storage in a fully integrated, modular and scalable package which produces asymmetrical power support across the 3 phases as required \u2013 eliminating grid overloads and power outages.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19979\" style=\"width: 778px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/04\/20200418_140536_131118282-scaled.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19979\" class=\"wp-image-19979 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/04\/20200418_140536_131118282-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/04\/20200418_140536_131118282-768x1024.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/04\/20200418_140536_131118282-1500x2000.jpeg 1500w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/04\/20200418_140536_131118282-750x1000.jpeg 750w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/04\/20200418_140536_131118282-1536x2048.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/04\/20200418_140536_131118282-1152x1536.jpeg 1152w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/04\/20200418_140536_131118282-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/04\/20200418_140536_131118282-scaled.jpeg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-19979\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ian Garner &#8211; Solar Algarve<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Fronius Symo solar inverter takes energy directly from the PV panels to supply AC power to the house during the day. Any surplus power is fed to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/inverters-chargers\/multiplus-ii\" target=\"_blank\">MultiPlus-II<\/a>\u00a0units which charge the <a href=\"https:\/\/bydbatterybox.com\" target=\"_blank\">BYD <\/a>LVL 15.4 battery. At night (and during the day when power demand is high) the MultiPlus II units provide AC power directly from the battery storage. We can build systems based on today\u2019s needs \u2013 but as future circumstances change we can respond, we\u2019re not stuck with standalone, unsynchronised equipment. We find this ability to respond to change &#8211; combined with the capabilities of ESS &#8211; takes a lot of pressure out of the decision to move away from complete grid reliance; and that, coupled with the\u00a0Color Control GX data which we can monitor via the VRM portal, creates a great solution for these types of situations.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The BYD LVL units are the latest model from BYD. The Fronius is plugging away like grid inverters do, all 3 phases more or less equal whilst the Victron phase output is all over the place &#8211; as per the demands of the property.
