{"id":16336,"date":"2019-06-11T09:03:58","date_gmt":"2019-06-11T07:03:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/?p=16336"},"modified":"2022-06-27T20:58:27","modified_gmt":"2022-06-27T18:58:27","slug":"hot-water-on-the-skeleton-coast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/2019\/06\/11\/hot-water-on-the-skeleton-coast\/","title":{"rendered":"MY-PV Water and space heating"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Austrian based MY-PV have developed a range of AC and DC products to store surplus PV energy which would otherwise go to waste.<\/p>\n<p>Last December <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/blog\/2018\/08\/30\/victron-energy-people-who-is-lucian-popescu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lucian Popescu<\/a> &#8211; Victron sales manager for Eastern Europe &#8211; suggested <a href=\"https:\/\/www.my-pv.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">MY-PV<\/a> \u00a0make their product compatible with ours for incorporation into off-grid and energy storage systems (ESS). That&#8217;s now fully-functioning and the compatibility was recently announced in Munich, at Intersolar Europe.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A common off-grid\/ESS experience during summer months is that by eleven o&#8217; clock in the morning your batteries are fully recharged and from then on little of the energy falling onto your panels will be self-consumed, or stored.<\/p>\n<p>MY-PV have a solution for that circumstance, which can store the surplus energy outside a battery bank &#8211; for example it can use surplus energy for water heating.<\/p>\n<h2>AC.THOR<\/h2>\n<p>The AC.THOR is a 0 &#8211; 3 kW linearly controlled photovoltaic power manager for heating water, electric underfloor heating, or space heating.<\/p>\n<p>In combination with the Victron system, the AC\u2022THOR uses the surplus energy from your photovoltaic system to supply electrical heat sources such as immersion heaters, electric heating mats or infrared panels linearly with power. This ensures optimal energy utilisation.<\/p>\n<p>AC.THOR is connected via ethernet to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/live\/venus-os:start\" target=\"_blank\">Victron GX device<\/a> &#8211; such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/panel-systems-remote-monitoring\/color-control\" target=\"_blank\">Color Control GX<\/a>. Similarly,\u00a017kWh of energy can be stored in a 300 litre tank &#8211; raising the temperature of the water from 10\u00b0C \u00a0to 60\u00b0C.
